Birth Comfort Measures
While envisioned birth outcomes can never be 100% guaranteed, honest and open communication with your medical provider and informed decision-making empower you to remain flexible.

Learn and practice comfort measures tailored to your birth preferences, whether you desire a medicated or unmedicated birth.
My hope for you would be a birth experience where you feel nurtured, supported, and informed every step of the way. Your body was created for birth — made to mother — you've got this!
How Do Birth Doulas Help?
Encouraging Parents: Seek maternity care that aligns with your birth vision while considering the unique circumstances surrounding your birth.
Prenatal Exercises: Practice exercises and stretches to maximize optimal space for the baby in preparation for birth.
Comfort Measures: Learn comfort measures to be used prenatally and during labor, whether your goal is a medicated or unmedicated birth.
Partner Support: Encourage your partner to practice specific comfort measures to assist with labor progress.
Information and Resources: Navigating pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum can be daunting! Evidence-based research and local resources are tools for being informed.
Postpartum Planning: Discuss postpartum preparations to ease your transition as a growing family.
Self-Advocacy: Encourage self-advocacy while promoting helpful dialogue with your medical provider, working together as a team for positive birth outcomes.
Empowerment: Remind you through positive affirmations and deep breathing that your body was created for birth. Your baby will soon be in your arms!
*Doulas are NOT medical providers and will not perform tasks like cervical checks or taking blood pressure. Your doctor, midwife, and nurses will handle all medical procedures to ensure your safety. I’m here to support you and your partner in non-medical ways, assisting you in advocating for yourselves and helping you feel confident and supported throughout the process.

“My doula was a Godsend to me and my family. Shannon is friendly warm, and welcoming. She helped answer my questions and is experienced, caring and compassionate. During my long period of induction and labor she was calm and very supportive to me and my husband. She did not interfere with the nurses’ job and gave us private family time when needed. She was just so perfect and appreciated by everyone around me and even the staff at the hospital.”
